FAST services (free ad-supported streaming TV) have grown quickly. They work like old-fashioned broadcast TV: channels play on a schedule, ads pay the bills, and you don't need a credit card.
Pluto TV is the best-known, with a cable-style guide and a mix of news, movies, classic series and themed single-show channels. Tubi leans on its large on-demand movie library but also carries live news and sports channels.
Samsung TV Plus comes built into Samsung TVs and phones and also runs in a web browser. The Roku Channel does the same for Roku devices and is also available on other platforms. Xumo Play, Plex Live TV, DistroTV and Sling Freestream round out the field, and each has its own niche.
The trade-off is content. Free services rarely carry major live sports, premium networks or local network affiliates. Many households pair one or two free services with an antenna for local channels and skip a paid bundle entirely.
Because availability varies by country, check our individual reviews for regional notes before you install.
