How to stream live sports legally

Where the major leagues and events actually stream, and how to avoid paying for the same games twice.

Sports rights are split across many services, which is why sports fans often need more than one subscription. Start with the leagues you care about most and work outward.

In the US, national NFL, NBA, MLB and college broadcasts sit mostly on ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC, TNT and their streaming counterparts. Live TV bundles like YouTube TV, Fubo, Hulu + Live TV and DIRECTV STREAM carry most of these networks. League services like NFL+, NBA League Pass and MLB.TV fill gaps but come with local blackout rules.

Regional sports networks are the trickiest part. Not every live TV service carries your local team's channel, so check carriage by ZIP code before subscribing.

Outside the US, rights holders differ by country: DAZN, Sky, NOW, Kayo Sports, beIN Sports Connect, TSN+ and Viaplay are major players in their regions.

Rotate subscriptions with the seasons. Monthly billing makes it easy to subscribe for football season and cancel in spring.
