Our verdict
BBC iPlayer streams BBC television live and on demand in the UK. There is no separate iPlayer subscription, but a valid TV Licence is required.
BBC iPlayer is the BBC’s official streaming service for live television and catch-up programmes. It is intended for viewers in the UK; programme availability depends on online rights.
The listed monthly price refers only to the app subscription: there is no separate iPlayer subscription fee. A valid TV Licence is required to watch or download BBC iPlayer programmes, so this is not a zero-cost option for an unlicensed household.
